What you need to know about Hospice of London

  • Hospice of London is a charitable organization that provides compassionate care and companionship to palliative and bereaved individuals and their families; recognizing and embracing their unique needs.
  • Hospice of London was established in 1985, founded on the belief that care should not only be focused on physical health needs, but must also be compassionate and aimed at improving quality of life. We provide support to meet the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of individuals and their families while promoting the highest degree of comfort, peace and dignity.
  • More than 4,000 palliative and bereaved individuals have accessed Hospice service over the past 25 years. We accept referrals from medical professionals, health care providers, family members and self referrals.
  • More than 300 volunteers share their time and talents to help enhance the quality of life for our palliative and bereaved clients.
  • Hospice of London volunteer visitors receive 24 hours of training. Training sessions are offered to the public every 2 months and cover topics of grief and bereavement, ethics and sensitivity training.
  • Complementary therapists offer their time and talent to bring pain relief, comfort and relaxation to our clients either in our home at 837 Talbot Street or in our client’s home.
  • Hospice of London offers bereaved children between the ages of 6 – 12 the opportunity to express their feelings through an 8 week Art Therapy program called ‘Key Changes’.
  • Hospice of London is associated with a number of national, provincial and local health care associations and organizations to provide the highest quality of care to palliative and bereaved clients.
  • Funding for Hospice of London is generated through a broad spectrum of community support. Our donors include service clubs, religious organizations, unions, the education sector, and through individuals and families with bequests. Our two major funding partners, Southwest LHIN and the United Way of London and Middlesex, contribute approximately 72% of our total operating budget. The other 28% is generated through fundraising and third party initiatives.
